The Stoughton Public Library Stoughton Collection houses a unique collection of materials pertaining to the town and its surroundings. Our catalog lists many of these items with the letters SC in the call number. The collection consists of materials dealing not only with Stoughton but with other cities and towns in Massachusetts and New England. This material is kept for its historical and research value and also includes vital statistics, town reports, town histories, photographs, military records, family histories, and historical maps. Through links on the left side of this page, you can access digital versions of Stoughton newspapers and Stoughton High School Yearbooks. The library no longer has a physical machine for viewing microfilm and microfiche. We are continuously working to preserve other historical materials digitally.
Whenever anyone is doing genealogical research: that is, trying to trace back a family's historical roots, our Stoughton Collection is the source to use.
The materials in the Stoughton Collection (SC) do not circulate but are available for use in the library with a form of identification for staff to hold at the main desk. The Stoughton Collection is housed in our Historical Room, and patrons may request items from it which Library Staff will obtain. If you need research assistance, please ask for Reference Librarian Josh Olshin.
