Water Department
The Water Department is responsible for supplying water to our residents, supplemented by Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) connection. The Department services water main breaks, shutoff and turn-ons of curb boxes and water leaks. We are also responsible for various other services such as:
- Installation of new water services
- Fire and hydrant flow tests
- Inspections for approved contractors.
Final Water Readings
Final water readings are conducted five days a week between 7:30 am to 2:30 pm. Please contact the Water Department 7 days before the closing date. Final Readings are scheduled 24 to 48 hours before the sale date. To schedule a final water reading please contact the Water Department at 781-341-1300, ext. 9414 or 9379.
After Hours Water Main Break
To report a water main break after business hours please contact the local Police Department at 781-344-2424.
WATER METER REPLACEMENT
Mass Installation has been working in town replacing the water meters to new digital meters. These meters give us up to date water usage and can detect possible leaks in the home. If you receive a postcard from them, please call the number listed on there for Mass Installation to schedule the appointment.
WATER/SEWER/TRASH BILL INFORMATION
Water/Sewer/Trash bills are sent out quarterly in February, May, August, and November. They are mailed to the address we are given for the owner of the property. They can be paid in person at the Collector's Office at Town Hall 10 Pearl Street, dropped in the collection box in front of the Town Hall, mailed, or paid online by clicking here
If you receive a bill that says, "ZERO USAGE BILL PLEASE CONTACT WATER DEPT" Please call the Water Department at (781)341-1300 x9414 or x9379. There are a few reasons why you would see this. First, if you are on a well and do NOT have town water. In this case, please disregard. Second, could be if you go away during the billing period. Third could be that the transmitter, which is part of the water meter, has stopped working. When this happens, the meter is still recording your usage but, the transmitter is unable to send us the reading. This is why we urge you to call immediately if you see this on your bill as you are still responsible for the water usage. When you call the Water Dept they will make an appointment to have the transmitter replaced for you at no charge.
