Why is the Town working on this plan?

The planning process will include robust community engagement that will help the Town learn more about the priorities of the people who live and work in Stoughton. It will allow us to identify strategies that will support a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Town, while also helping to prepare the Town and its residents from climate impacts.

How you can be involved:

In addition to the project team members noted above, the Climate Action and Resilience Plan will be supported by stakeholders throughout the community. That includes residents, businesses, community organizations, Town staff, many of the Town’s boards and committees, etc. This is YOUR plan; the implementation of the plan will impact YOUR life in Stoughton, and we hope you will share your ideas, concerns, priorities and anything else that comes to mind, throughout the proyou’d like to be involved, please keep a look out for events and attend them if you’re able, contact any of the individuals from the project team, and come back to this webpage often for updates!

Project Goal:

The goal of the plan is to meaningfully reduce emissions that contribute to pollution and climate change, while addressing concerns about the impact of climate change on the community, including effects on public health, safety, and well-being of residents, as well as effects on the schools and town operations.

Project Timeline:

· Phase 1 (Sept 2024- Jan2025) will focus on building a foundation of knowledge for success in the following phases: this includes, but is not limited to, identifying stakeholders, starting to have conversations with municipal staff and organizations in Town, building internal capacity, and learning more about Stoughton.

· Phase 2 (February 2025-January 2026) will focus on conducting diverse and inclusive engagement throughout Town. The feedback and community input received during this time will be synthesized and used to tailor strategies identified from research and other plans throughout the region, to align with the priorities of the community. New strategies will also be created to account for feedback received that is not included in prior research and plans at this time.

· Phase 3 (February-June 2026) will focus on the initial implementation of the plan.
