A Statement from Select Board Chair Stephen Cavey
This is a public statement made by Select Board Chair Stephen Cavey at the January 6 Select Board hearing:“I understand and appreciate the level of community interest in the two matters involving the Town and SMAC. While I am not at liberty to share all the details regarding SMAC’s lawsuit vs. the Town or the Town’s claim of SMAC’s contract violations, I am happy to report that both sides are working towards an amicable resolution that we are optimistic will result in the dismissal of SMAC’s lawsuit vs. the town and the extension of an amended contract between SMAC and the Town of Stoughton. Town Counsel has reported as recently as today significant progress toward resolution on both sides.Tonight I am asking for the Board to continue the public hearing until Thursday, January 29, 2026 when, at which time, we hope to expect to share details of a settlement agreement.”
