Planning Board

The Stoughton Planning Board’s primary responsibility is to administer the Subdivision Control Law pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 41 in order to ensure the public safety, interest and welfare of the residents of the Town of Stoughton.  The Board conducts meetings and public hearings in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws to review subdivision plans as well as applications for Site Plan Approval and Special Permits.  The Board also reviews applications for Approval Not Required (ANR) plans.

Another major responsibility of the Planning Board is to consider and prepare amendments to the Town of Stoughton’s Zoning Bylaws.  They conduct public hearings on these amendments that are submitted to the Board by way of Town staff, other municipal boards or committees or citizen petition pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40A, §5.  The Planning Board is also responsible for updating the Town’s Master Plan.  The Master Plan was last revised in 2015.  Lastly, the Planning Board conducts studies on topics such as economic development, housing, transportation and zoning.

Meetings:
The Planning Board regular meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00PM.  Additional meetings are scheduled as required.  Check the Town Clerk's office and the Town meeting calendar for specific meeting schedules.
