APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE DOWNTOWN STOUGHTON STOREFRONT AND SIGN IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. SEE ATTACHED APPLICATIONS, PROGRAM GUIDELINES AND TARGET AREA MAP. PLEASE SUBMIT APPLICATION FOR APPROPRIATE PROGRAM (the Downtown Stoughton Storefront and Sign Improvement Program or the Downtown Stoughton Sign-Only Improvement Program). The guidelines explain the programs.
The Town of Stoughton has received a grant in the amount of $586,141 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Housing and Community Development, Massachusetts CDBG Program to fund a Downtown Storefront and Sign Improvement Program.
The grant will provide funding for four full Sign and Façade Projects and ten Sign Only Projects (including signage, lighting, and awnings). The four full projects will be funded by Deferred Payment Loans at 0% interest in an amount equal to 75% of the actual cost of eligible improvements. The maximum Deferred Payment Loan amount will be $75,000. If the property is not sold or title transferred within 10 years, the Deferred Payment Loan is forgiven. The Sign Only projects will be funded by grants up to $5,000.00 per project.
Property owners interested in participating in the program can find applications, program guidelines, and a downtown target area map delineating boundaries for eligible projects on the Town of Stoughton’s website https://www.stoughton.org/economic-development. Business owners will need the permission of the property owner in order to participate in the program. Based on strict criteria, a review committee will review and prioritize project applications. In the event of multiple applications receiving the same priority ranking, preference will be given to applicants who submitted full and complete applications first. All applications will be due on November 19th at 4:00 p.m. Applications received after the deadline will only be considered if funding is available.
Contact Pamela McCarthy, Economic Development Director at 781-341-1300 x9265 or EconomicDevelopment@stoughton-ma.gov if you have any questions or are interested in taking part in the program.
