SUMMER PROGRAMS

Click here for our Summer 2008 brochure and registration forms.

Please note the registration dates and times listed in our brochure. Due to the large number of applications, we can only register children during these designated times.

OPEN PLAYGROUND

The Open Playground is an unstructured program. Unlike in a camp, children are not forced to participate in any specific activity. Arts & Crafts projects are offered daily, as well as wiffleball, street hockey, and other sports. Field trips are scheduled weekly for different age groups, and have in the past included Water Wizz, a Brockton Rox game, a whale watch, and a trip to Buttonwood Zoo, among others. Click here for a calendar for the summer of 2008. Upon registration, children are given a Playground t-shirt that must be worn on field trips. There are also special event days at the Playground, such as the Playground Fair, Field Day, and Pizza Day. On Monday mornings, children can also attend "Arts in the Park," a program sponsored by the Stoughton Public Library. Transportation is also available to and from Playground to either the Dawe, Hansen, Gibbons, West, or Jones schools for a minimal fee.

Open Playground goes from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children should bring a lunch, snack, and plenty of fluids to drink. Lunches should have the child's name written on them. Please also note that on rain days, playground ends at noon, and there is no return transportation for children taking the bus. The decision of whether any day is declared a "rain day" is made at 11 a.m. on that day. Please call the Recreation Office at 781-341-1300 ext. 244 if you have any questions.

For the full six weeks: $275 for the first child, $125 for each child after

PRE-PLAYGROUND

Pre-Playground is run separately from Open Playground, and is a more structured program. Up to 15 children are registered for each week. There are arts and crafts, as well as games and field trips during the six-week program. In the past, field trips have been to the Trailside Museum at Blue Hills and to the Sheep Pasture in Easton. This program runs from 8:30-noon, and is held rain or shine. Children should have a snack and drink for this program, and should enter through the front entrance of the school.
