The Stoughton Public Library has always
provided quality library services to the children of The library also provides a variety of audio visual material as well as programs throughout the year for children from preschool through Grade 6. Among these programs are story hours for preschoolers from 3 1/2-6 years old which are held on Friday afternoons and Teddybear Storytime which is held on Wednesday evenings. All three of these programs run from October through June. Craft programs for children in grades in K-5 are held on a monthly basis. Special programs such as children's concerts, puppet shows, storytellers and live animal programs are held intermittently throughout the school year. A new addition is a story/craft program for 2 - 3 1/2 year olds, which is held on Thursday mornings. During the summer months an average of 630 children of all ages enjoy our Summer Reading program in which small incentives (prizes) are awarded as children read books or have books read to them and record them in their reading logs. There are programs at the library in conjunction with the reading program throughout the summer. Finally, we hold an introductory orientation for second graders and a research orientation for fifth graders in the Public Schools as well as programs for scout troops, private schools and nursery schools as requested.
