Stoughton DPW Solid Waste and Recycling Information

The Town of Stoughton has curbside trash collection on a weekly basis. Recyclables are picked up twice a month. Recycling stickers and guidelines may be obtained at the Town Hall, 10 Pearl Street or at the Public Works Department, 950 Central Street.  Residents are reminded that trash and recyclables must be at curbside no later than 7 AM to assure collection. Rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Selectmen will apply.

Rugs & Carpets: Rugs and carpets need to be cut into widths of no more than 4-feet and tied into rolls of no more than 12 inches in diameter for collection at curbside.

Yard Waste: In accordance with Mass. D.E.P. Regulation 310 CMR 19.017, the Public Works Department may no longer pick up Yard Waste with the trash at curbside. However, the Transfer Station located on Page Street will continue to accept leaves and grass clippings only.

Medical Waste: In accordance with the agreement with SEMASS Partnership, disposal of needles, syringes, lancets and other sharp objects will no longer be picked up with curbside trash collection.

Please Note: Large household appliances/metal items must be called into the Public Works Department for an appointment to have these items picked up.

Transfer Station: The Transfer Station located at 100 Page Street will be open only on Sundays from 8 AM to 5 PM and will accept only white goods (refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, water heaters, air conditioners, etc. of any color), commingled recyclables (refer to the guidelines for curbside collection) leaves and grass clippings, and untied newspapers only, either loose or in brown paper bags.
